Wholesale prices came in hot on the yearly gauge (5.4% vs 5.3% forecast) while the underlying monthly measure actually undershot (0.2% vs 0.3%). Mixed signal, not a clean beat.
Markets read it hawkish anyway — odds of a hike next week jumped from ~60% to ~70%, yields pushed higher across the curve.
