@OKX Orbită

Scaling Blockchains Does Not Always Mean Adding More Block Space
When blockchain networks face growing demand, the obvious solution is often to increase capacity:
More block space.
More throughput.
Bigger infrastructure.
But there is another way to approach the scaling problem:
Make the existing block space more efficient.
That distinction is central to how @get_optimum frames its networking research.
A blockchain does not only have a computation problem. It also has a data movement problem.
When a block is produced, its data has to propagate across a distributed network of nodes. Every additional delay, retransmission, or inefficient packet transfer adds friction to that process.
Traditional propagation can be thought of as repeatedly forwarding pieces of the same information between nodes. If packets are lost or delayed, the network may need additional transmissions before a node has enough information to reconstruct the block.
Optimum explores a different approach using Random Linear Network Coding (RLNC).
Instead of treating every packet as an individual piece that must arrive intact, RLNC allows nodes to transmit coded combinations of the underlying data. Once a node receives enough independent information, it can reconstruct the original dataset.
The important scaling property is that the network can spend its bandwidth on useful information, rather than repeatedly recovering from inefficient transmission.
This changes the question from:
“How do we create more block space?”
to:
“How do we move the block space we already have more efficiently?”
The distinction matters because increasing capacity at the protocol level does not automatically solve the cost of distributing that additional data across a decentralized network.
The transcript highlights this directly: Optimum’s approach is not about adding more block space, but about making the existing block space more efficient. Tài-liệu.txt
This is also why networking deserves to be treated as a fundamental scaling layer.
If data can propagate more efficiently, the network may be able to support higher demands without requiring decentralization to be sacrificed for performance.
That is the core idea behind “decentralize to scale.”
Not scaling by making the network smaller and more centralized.
Scaling by making the network itself more efficient.

Nice to meet you.
@zaddrnet
2,800 faces you can see.
2,800 owners you can’t.
Zaddr is not another generated PFP collection. Every face is hand-drawn, pixel by pixel. No trait randomization. No factory art. Just 2,800 unique portraits living on Zcash.
The image is public.
The owner is not.
Ownership moves through Zcash’s Orchard shielded pool. You can use the face. You can display it. Nobody on-chain can see who holds it.
Whitelist applications are now closed.
21,996 people applied.
Pending tickets are still being read by hand — not by a filter.
Mint is tomorrow, 21 September:
Whitelist: 13:00 UTC — 1 per wallet
Public: 19:00 UTC — 3 per wallet
Price: 0.02 ZEC each

Nice to Meet You: How @zaddrnet Is Building a Private Payment Layer on Zcash
Zcash has long been known for one thing most cryptocurrencies still struggle with: real privacy. Shielded transactions hide the sender, receiver, and amount. But sending money still usually means copying a 178-character address that no one wants to read out loud.
ZADDR is trying to fix that.
The project is launching 2,800 hand-drawn pixel faces on Zcash. Every face is public. Every owner is not. Ownership lives in Zcash’s Orchard shielded pool, so the person behind each face stays hidden. The tagline captures it cleanly: “Nice to not meet you.”
Instead of sharing a long z-address, users claim a simple name tied to their X account. Someone can pay and the payment goes to the private address behind that name. The payer never sees the 178-character string. Keys stay on the user’s device. ZADDR does not hold anyone’s funds.
The project used a tightly controlled whitelist. More than 21,000 people applied. Applications are now closed and still being reviewed by hand. Approved holders recently gained the ability to nominate others. Each approved user can make one nomination by posting:
hey @zaddrnet nominating @handle
Every nomination draws a line on the live map at As of the latest update, that map shows 236 lines crossing 40 countries and 110 borders. The visualization treats the network like a spreading contagion — a playful way to show how trust and access are moving across the globe.
Mint is scheduled for 21 September 2026 at 0.02 ZEC per face. Whitelist mint starts at 13:00 UTC (1 per wallet). Public mint follows at 19:00 UTC (3 per wallet).
ZADDR is not trying to be a wallet or an exchange. It is trying to make private payments usable. A public face, a simple name, and a shielded address behind it. You can see who is in the network. You cannot see who owns what.
That is the point.
