About IranUSDealStandoff
Iran says it received, via Qatari mediators, a formal US response on a ceasefire and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and is reviewing the offer. Talks cover shipping access, blockades, sanctions and nuclear issues, with the sequencing of actions still the main sticking point. Indirect talks in New York made no breakthrough, but Qatar remains engaged. Gulf crude exports excluding Iran have largely returned to pre-war levels via alternative routes. Can Tehran and Washington bridge the gap?

Tehran's review of a US response, carried through Qatari mediation, keeps diplomacy alive without resolving the key problem: sequencing. With Gulf crude exports excluding Iran largely finding alternative routes, the immediate pressure to compromise may be uneven. That makes a narrow shipping arrangement more plausible than a full bargain spanning sanctions and nuclear issues.

🇺🇸🇮🇷 Iran has received Washington’s response to Tehran’s seven-day proposal for de-escalation, with Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi expected to discuss the U.S. feedback in Tehran today.
According to an official briefed on the talks, the main disagreement is now over the sequencing of the plan, not its core elements, potentially narrowing the gap between the two sides.
The proposal is designed to build trust over seven days before returning to an enhanced version of the MoU reached in June.
